Wake up sick to my stomach, with diarrhea. Any ideas why?
For the past 3 or 4 months now I’ve been going to bed as usual – anytime between midnight and 6am depending on when I get home. I feel completely fine when I go to bed.
Then I wake up in the mornings feeling sick to my stomach. I’m nauseas each time and 10 times out of 10 I have a bout of diarrhea. I’ve actually thrown-up once. This doesn’t happen every day, but I’d say it probably happens around once or twice every week or so since just before Christmas of ’08.
I’ve observed and experimented with my eating habits, portions and times, as well as paying close attention to what I eat. I used to think the problem was caused exclusively by consuming tomato products too close to when I’d go to bed, but since I haven’t done that the past few times, I’m not sure that’s what it is anymore.
Aside from the nausea and diarrhea, the upset stomach is usually accompanied by vile-tasting burps and is preceded during my sleep by nightmares, usually centered around eating or being full or even sick.

I don’t know what is causing this. I never had this problem before winter started up. I am starting to get really nervous and am afraid that this might be some sort of permanent or life-threatening condition. I haven’t been to the doctor’s yet because I don’t have very much extra money to spend right now. Does anyone have any idea what this might be or how I might remedy it? PLEASE – any help at all would be SO MUCH APPRECIATED! =
FYI – I am a 20 year old male with no history of digestive problems.

It could be a lot of different things.

It could even be as simple as stress.

Go to the doctor. There are free clinics you can go to and get checked out.

I had these exact same symptoms when I was 30 or so years old. I had this for a month and I lost 7 pounds and was more depressed that I had ever been in my life! I had a fecal test done and found out that I had an intestinal bug called Geardiasis. This is a bug one gets from drinking water that beavers inhabit or shaking hands with someone who did not wash after they used the bathroom. Go to a doctor and get tested because it will not go away on its own.

Are you taking any vitamins or other supplements at bedtime? I suggest to eat only raw foods ( not cooked ) For 2 days and see what happens. Good luck!
