Terrible abdominal pains, vomiting and nausea.. what is wrong?
I have had horrible lower abdominal pains for about two weeks now, i have been to the doctors and they ruled out all STI/Ds, pregnancy, constipation and gas pains, and food allergy, but couldn’t pin point anything and told me to come back if it gets worse. I have had a low grade fever for a few weeks and been really ill in terms of vomiting and nausea (worse after eating). I have had very poor appetite and have just been feeling lousy. Very tired, feeling constipated but when i do go its diarrhea (at least once a day). Very sharp pains in lower right abdomen, more moderate crampy sharp pains everywhere else (pain is throughout entire abdomen – mostly lower).
WHAT IS WRONG??

P.S I have no appendix so not appendicitis. Also bloods showed no infection, and urine was normal apart from small amount of blood in it (doctor put it down to muscle degradation due to not eating).

Answer by cantilena91
It can well be a gallstone pain attack, especially if the pain occurs after consuming things such as watermelon, apples, red pepper, fatty/fast food, chocolate, beans, peas or freshly baked bread. Please go see a doctor in order to have an abdominal ultrasound at least.

Answer by Pink
Go to a doctor, do you eat healthy? Are you worried about something? when i worry or am scared some on this stuff happens. but if its constant then go to a doctor. a Gastroenterologist would be best because im guessing this is all happining with your stomach and bowels etc… or to a Gynacologest. HOPE THIS HELPS! feel better !:)

severe abdominal pain?
every month or so, I get severe abdominal pain. Sometimes it will start off at the top of my stomach and then move down. In some episodes, i’ve experienced nausea, vomiting, and a low fever. In other episodes, I’ve had diarrhea. And in some cases, I experience none of the symptoms above, except the abdominal pain by itself. However, after every episode, my lower stomach becomes sore and it hurts to stand up straight, and it hurts even more right after I urinate. It feels like when I try to stand up straight, something is being pulled. After about an hour, I can stand upright again. But if i push down below my belly button, it hurts… and it stays sore for the entire day. I’ve had these episodes for more than 2 years.. My dad says its nothing because I’m still alive, but what could it be?

abdominal pain, lower back pain, right side pain, nausea.Does anyone know what might be causing these symptoms?
On Sunday i started to feel some minor minor discomfort accompanied by diarrhea this continued to monday and i had lost my appetite. I went and saw a doctor and they suggested it might be something i ate that upset my stomach. I regained my appetite but the pain continued to thursday and i started getting pain in my right side, back pain, and groin pain. then thursday afternoon i lost my appetite, vomited and felt dehydrated even though i was drinking plenty of water so i went back to see a doctor. his diagnosis was that i was constipated and gave me a laxative. I took the laxative and 8 hours or so later had a few bowl movements(diarrhea). None of the symptoms have gone away though and eating anything makes me feel like vomiting even drinking water does somewhat. Any ideas might be causing all of this?

Answer by Cheri A
It could be kidney stones but any doctor who can’t figure that out isn’t worth seeing but you never know. Kidney stone pain makes you vomit, the pain lasts until the stone is passed and the pain can be in the back, or angled from you side down into the groin. It can be on either side.

Answer by Angie T
you could be having an appendicitis, how could you be constipated if you are having diarrhea that does not make any sense, any way maybe you should get a cat scan or an u/s it could be several different things im not saying that it is your appendix but you must get a 2nd opinion,if the pain gets any worse go to the E.R. good luck.

HELP! upper abdominal pain, nausea, lightheadedness, Doctors dont know?
Hi! I am 18 year old female. I have spontaneous episodes on severe upper abdominal pain and i will get really nauseous with it and get really lightheaded. Then i will have diarrhea after. It usually happens in the morning when i get up early and at night, after eating. I also have gotten a lot of anxiety lately and have panic attacks that will bring on my abdominal pain. I have also been very depressed with a lot of crying. All this started happening 4 months ago and i dont know what caused it but it might be because i had my wisdom teeth out and was vomiting a lot and also i drank too much new years eve and was vomiting and sick for 3 days straight. Alcohol upsets it so i dont drink anymore. Because of my anxiety i dont go out because im afraid i will get an attack. Being at a mall or out to eat will even upset my stomach. Endoscopy/ultrasound showed nothing. Im on IBS meds that stop that stop diarrhea but my stools arent normal looking. Please Help!
also have skin rashes sometimes. My skin will itch and as soon as i touch it it breaks out in red splotches. If i keep on itching it raised white marks where i scratched will appear but i cant help scratching! It hurts so bad when i dont. This will sometimes happen when im anxious.

No ulcer, the endoscopy didnt show anything. I dont have celiac because they took a biopsy of my stomach. I dont know if it just anxiety because i was on antidepressants when it all started. I was tested for medication allergies and nothing showed up and plus i have changed every medication i was taking a couple times. I stopped taking the antidepressants a month ago because i thought that might upsetting it. No change.

plus the severe anxiety didnt start until 2 months ago
3 hours ago

Def NOT pregnant and the ultrasound showed no gallstones. The medication i am on now has some anxiety medication in it but i have to have it every four hours or the pain comes back

Answer by Jason .
I know what it is…its rather common. You are a hypochondriac.

Answer by the crusader
It sounds like the itchy rash is caused by hives. Also, the stomach and bowel problems you have been experiencing sound like they are psychosomatic. That means that you are having your anxiety issues and the anxiety is presenting itself through physical forms. Just keep talking to your doctor about trying antidepressants and taking a benzodiazepine (sedative) in combination to the antidepressants. Give the antidepressants time to work. They can take up to 3 to 4 weeks to fully kick in. Meanwhile, try reading up on some other things that may help you to calm down, such as meditation or biofeedback, to supplement your medication regimen.

I am 46 year old female, will go out have a drink (alcohol) sometimes it happens and others it doesn’t. – Go to bed sober (happens after one drink on occasion) wake up 1.30 am get diarrhoea go back to sleep wake up 6.00am nausea, vomiting, light headed cannot do anything but vomit and sleep, this goes on between 2 and 5 days. Usually I have to go to hospital – Don’t know cause testing for pancreatitis (i seldom get pain), ulcers etc. I feel like I am making it up and so much so that last time I suggested this to the Doctor he assured me that blood tests showed that it was definitely physical not psychological. Ask to see a good gastroenterologist to eliminate all possible causes and ask about pancreatitis and do some research on it as it is difficult to diagnose. Hope this helps

Severe and chronic abdominal symptoms? HELP!!?

Severe and chronic abdominal symptoms? HELP!!?
This is my history of my illness. If ANYBODY can help I would greatly appreciate it!!

When I began my period it was regular but heavy. I was in 7th grade.

In 8th grade it continued and I had frequent infections. In December I had a sinus infection. January strep throat. February viral throat infection. March sinus infection. April viral throat infection. May sinus infection.

In 9th grade I had 1 or 2 sinus infections. My periods became irregular and eventually stopped when I lost weight due to anorexia, depression, and anxiety.

In 10th grade I had complications from my anorexia. I had bradicardia, postural orthostatic tachecardia, low alkaline phosphotase, and 2 other electrolytes. I was in the hospital twice and it saved my life. I devloped insomnia also and was put on many medications, constantly switching.

I’ve been on zofoft, zyprexa, effexor, cymbalta, prostiq, wellbitrin, and revia (for cutting).

Then I developed bulimia. I developed ovarian cysts (4 of them seperatly, one he size of a lemon) and stopped my bulimia because of the pain.

The next year (this year) in 11th grade I developed off and on severe abdominal pain. Every time they found or assumed I had small cysts on my ovaries. Then I developed a severe case of he flu. I was vomiting, had intense stomach pains, fever, headache, fatigue, etc. After that the abdominal symptoms would not go away. I had chronic abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting along with constipation and diarrhea.

They said I had a bad case of gastroenteritis. I went into the hospital for my depression which was torure on top of that. I was diagnosed with PTSD. I then went on Prozac, klonopin, abilify, seroquel, and anaspaz and phenergan to control my symptoms. I also had off and on fevers and continued to have sharp and stabbing pain.

Then they did a colonoscopy and endoscopy to find nothing except I was lactose intollerant. I cut out lactose and still have symptoms. Over that time I lost 40 lbs unintentionally this time. There were days where I couldn’t get a bite in me! So they gave me and ng tube.

I gained 10 lbs in 2 months and they took it out because at that point I had tons of heartburn and vomiting. I tried prilosec, pepcid, prevacid, and something for an ulcer with no relief.

I had a gastric emptying test which shows delayed gastric emptying. I am now on bethanechol and prevacid for that. Currently they think I’m having abdominal intestinal spasms which hurt so bad and they won’t let me take pain meds. I have a moderate fever, left side pain below my bellybutton, severe fatigue and weakness to the point where Im about to colapse.

I don’t know what else to do! I feel miserable!

Oh and I’ve been on yaz, lo ovral, depo provera, and now seasonique for my period, always with a month of breakthrough bleeding.
Recent blood tests, ct scan, ultrasound, and urine were normal besides excess protein.

Recently had strep throat also.

Sharp pain in upper abdominal area?

Sharp pain in upper abdominal area?
My girlfriend has a sharp pain in her upper abdominal area. The pain is more so on the left. It abruptly started yesterday night and when it started it also came with a pain in her right shoulder, which has subsided. She describes it as a sharp pain that goes away for a bit then comes back. She is a young Caucasian that is sexually active. She was on the depo provera shot and the shots effect wore off early last month. She eats unhealthy foods sometimes, like yesterday she ate some pizza, bread sticks, and she had some mac & cheese for dinner. No problems with constipation or diarrhea. She has an appointment to get another depo shot on friday and they are required to give her a pregnancy test. Could she be pregnant? No signs of vomiting, nausea, or a bloody stool. She has been complaining of dizziness at times.

Any suggestions can help. Thanks!

Abdominal Pain still…please help?

Abdominal Pain still…please help?
On December 2 I had laproscopic surgery to remove my gall bladder. My symptoms included a loss of appetite, severe abdominal pain, fever, headaches, vomiting, nausea, and constipation (and when I wasn’t constipated I had diarrhea). They finally decided to remove my gall bladder, hoping that would fix my problems. However, now that I’m out of my pain pills it’s more obvious than before that these symptoms are all still present. Also, the surgeon said that a couple of days after being home I’d be able to eat solid foods again, but they make me more nauseous than normal…so I’m still eating Jello, pudding, and soup that has been put through the blender.

What is wrong with me? Do you think this could be something serious? Should I go to the ER or can it wait until my appointment on the 17?

Answer by MelA
Go to the doctor.
But there is another rare disease that might be the problem. I have it, it is called Familal Mediterranean Fever (FMF) If you do have this, not to worry, I just take a small pill called Cholchicine everyday. And no pains, no fever nothing. I was diagnosed with so many things before a doctor found what was wrong with me. I thought I was dying from the pain. I even had anti-depressants prescribed to me because they thought it was all in my head.
May I ask where you are from? I mean your family roots? Anything connected to Armenian, Jewish, Turkish, Greek, etc. ???
Just mention this disease to your doctor. They usually don’t even know about it.

Answer by Poppy
I’m sorry about what you’re going through. I would definitely call the Doctor’s office tomorrow and let your surgeon know what’s going on. Has your urine been clear? My husband had gall bladder surgery and it was discovered that stones were also blocking his bile duct. Which meant a whole another procedure for him. He was having other symptoms and it was discovered that the the stones lining his bile duct were impacting his liver his function – it was actually an easier procedure – they didn’t have to open him back up and went down his throat to remove the stones that were causing a blockage to his bile duct and therefore impacting his liver function. Given your continued pain and symptoms, I would follow-up with your Surgeon before the 17th to see if additional tests are warranted.

I hope you get answers and relief from your symptoms soon.

Answer by b_bardi99
i was very sick after gallbladder surgery, for weeks that went onto months.

severe abdominal cramps…?
i get random episodes of abdominal cramps… it feels as if everything in my stomach area knots up in a ball then lets go. i am usually doubled over in pain and my stomach makes a strange gargling noise and i can tell that whatever i just ate is moving through my intestines because the pain and the sounds get lower and lower down my stomach area. when this happens i usually break out into a cold sweat and can’t move or talk. these are usually followed by diarrhea and nausea but never vomiting, only the feeling to. after a while the pain subsides and i’m good as new. the episodes last about 30-45 minutes.
there doesn’t seem to be any patterns to when these happens. it doesn’t matter what i eat or drink. these episodes are also happening more frequently. i haven’t seen a doctor yet, but i plan to very soon… i was just wondering if anybody might have an idea of what’s up.
i’ve already researched my symptoms on the internet but can’t seem to find anything that includes everything..

Answer by molly s

if its upper, its indigestion, obviously your aren’t precessing very well, if its lower, it could be chronic appendix..in either case see a doctor asap and get it resolved.

Severe squeezing abdominal pain in upper left quadrant?

Severe squeezing abdominal pain in upper left quadrant?
A couple hours after eating dinner tonight, I had this severe squeezing pain which felt like a labor contraction in my upper left abdomen. It came and went 3 times. Now, it finally stopped. I felt nauseous, came pretty close to vomiting and had diarrhea. I have a low grade fever 95.8 which I have had for 5 days. I have not been feeling very well lately…nausea, vomiting, fatigue, etc., but this is the first time I have felt this excrutiating pain! Then it was followed by lower abdominal cramping. Has anyone had this experience and found out what was wrong with them???????
I have had nausea and vomiting for 2 weeks. I went to the ER and the doc pretty much was a jerk and acted like I was wasting his time. He said I probably had a virus. However, my fever is not going back to normal.
Also, can you have gallbladder pain on the left side under the rib cage even though gallbladder is on the right side?

Answer by Lola
sounds like severe gastritis. it could also be anxiety. are you under a lot of stress? your brain is connected to your gut in a powerful way, if you are feeling anxious it releases serotonin all over the place causing your symptoms. the same thing happened to me. also f.y.i having a 95 degree temperature does mean you have a fever… that’s actually kind of low. maybe you are coming down with a bug. go see a doctor asap.

Answer by Pisces_mom
Judging from what you’ve written above, it sounds like you are dealing with gallbladder pain, possibly from gallstones. This situation you are going through is serious enough to warrant a trip to the emergency room. You need an abdominal ultrasound and/or a CT scan. The pain will go away once the dr’s are able to pinpoint exactly what’s going on. Gallbladder pain does not get better without some form of medical treatment so from personal experience all I can add here is that you should get this handled ASAP to avoid any more complications (like surgery). Just go seek medical attention now…GOod luck.

EDIT: Sorry that the er doc was such a jerk. He doesn’t seem to know what he’s doing…if your pain persists, get to your own private doctor for follow up. Yes, you can have pain that radiates anywhere along the ribcage or back with gallstones and gallbladder problems. The key to getting it dx’d is thru an ultrasound or MRI.

Constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain/swelling.?

Constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain/swelling.?
Lately for the past month or two, I’ve had episodes of serious constipation, like I cannot go, and I am heavily bloated like I can tell I am having abdominal swelling everywhere, especially where my dad says is my liver, which i feel is enlarging and sometimes hurts when pressure is applied to it as well as my stomach area. I’ve had stools with streaks of blood on them, mixed in with them, there has been bright blood in my stool and also, I have had stool that was both blood red, dark dark purplish red and black.. narrow stools, but the bleeding is on and off, its not frequent. And sometimes I have diarrhea episodes, I’ve been taking fiber for the past 3 weeks and eating better food, drinking water but nothing is changing. It’s almost like my abdominal area is tightening, where my liver is, its kind of hard, and under my left rib cage it hurts there and that too is getting solid. Im always having nausea but I hold back on vomiting I just won’t eat anything and lately I’ve been extremely exhausted/fatigued all I want to do is sleep or lie down, take a nap, when Im supposed to get out of bed after sleeping, its very difficult for me to get up out of bed. Some of my family members said I should get a colonoscopy done to rule out anything serious. What do you guys think could be wrong? And what would you suggest that I do?
I also forgot to mention, some of my stool is very thin and small like and sometimes my stool will look regular but it gets smaller and smaller towards the end kind of like how the end of a pencil looks when its sharpened. Like its a regular stool but gets narrower towards the end. And sometimes when I go I feel like I am not emptying myself completely and I also have the urge to vomit at the same time.
I have heard that my family has a history of colon polyps and colon cancer… and my dad even says hes scared I might have it bc he has looked at my stools the ones with blood, I was told that if it was a tear or something inside me, I would see the blood a lot more, but I don’t each time I have seen blood in the stool, I am not straining at all. It eases out and oop theres blood and I’m shocked/scared at the sight of different colors of blood that I have seen. I feel like my entire abdominal area is getting larger also, the pain sometimes is minor, aching, goes away, sometimes it can be so intense but usually its minor and just annoying.
What else could it be besides the possibility of colon cancer at such a young age? I have heard/seen people ages, 18, 23, 24, 27, 30, all ages really, males and females diagnosed with colon cancer and they never knew they had it until they experienced symptoms… like mine, right now, I can already tell my bowel habits have definitely done a 360 on me

Answer by Artificial S
I think you should get a colonoscopy. My grandma died from colon cancer and lately I was researching it and you sound like you have the symptom of it. I pray to God that you do not have cancer, but I would make sure I go to the doctor ASAP because something is wrong.

Answer by Kevin J Davis
Could be a blockage of some kind, that would cause the narrowing of the stool and the abdominal pain. The blood could be just from the strain breaking blood vessels or a tear in your lining. Yeah, I’d get a colonoscopy done.

P.S. I’m not a Doctor

Answer by Johnny Handsome
This could be any number of things…all serious. You need to see a doctor as soon as possible! You might need surgery….

Answer by Sues
Please go to the doctors and take a stool sample with you. They then can assess your situation and refer you to a gastro. specialist is they feel necessary. Best to be checked by having a colonoscopy to rule anything nasty out.
See your doctor sooner rather than later.
Hopefully you may only have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and nothing more serious.IBS isn’t wonderful but can be managed.
Make that appointment NOW!!!!
Take Care
